Abstract

A 59 years old man, without significant familial or personal antecedents, non-smoker, was admitted in the Cardiology Department of the Brasov Clinical Emergency County Hospital with a suspicion of acute myocardial infarction. The diagnosis was based on the presence of a pathological Q III wave on the resting electrocardiogram. Further scrupulous anamnesis, clinical examination and imagistic investigation revealed a left calf deep venous thrombosis, multiple intracavitar echogenic formations and massive pulmonary embolism, with a favourable evolution after surgical thrombembolectomy.
