Abstract

The report is intended to an overview of the newborn errors that needed surgery (240 newborn), with special concern for the reinterventions in those cases, within the Paediatric Surgery Department from Brasov, during the last 10 years (1992-2005). Reinterventions in neo-natal surgery can be avoided, most of the time, by several precautions: attention to pre-and post-operator care of the newborn baby, choosing the right moment for the surgery, adapting the care and surgical management conditions for the newborn patients, deciding the adequate procedure for the particular case and type of the malformation and last, but not least, leaving the care and surgical management of the newborns to the specialists dedicated mainly to neo-natal surgery. A lot of the mentioned malformations have the choice of a single stage repair indication today, but they usually need special equipment and experience.
