The clinical spectrum of Lewy body disease
Keywords:
Lewy body, proteic neuronal intracytoplasmatic inclusionsAbstract
The presence of Lewy bodies (LB) characterises some neurological diseases that share some clinical features: parkinsonism, dysexecutive dementia, dysautonomia, hyposomnia, drowsiness. LB are proteic neuronal intracytoplasmatic inclusions composed of altered neurofilaments mainly found in brainstem nuclei, hypothalamus, sympathetic ganglia and cortex. The concept of a spectrum of LB disorders is appealing but still needs further investigations.Published
