Istoria transplantului de organe și țesuturi în România

Abstract

Transplant has been a surgeons’ preoccupation since the beginning of the 20th century, the first skin transplant being realized in 1958. The cornea, liver transplant followed and the first successful kidney transplant took place in the 80’s. Outstanding achievements have been recorded since 1990, when a national network of transplant was established, and a lot of spectacular achievements in this field were accomplished (liver, heart, pancreas, medullar transplants), and the legislation in this field was upgraded according to the European norms.
