Abstract

Since antiquity, blood was considered to be a living fluid, source of live, with no other relationships to other tissues, being watched from both mythological and philosophical point of view. Aristotel was the first who tried to define it as a concept demonstrable through the rudimentary means of biological sciences of that time, introducing the method of logical reasoning. In the Middle Eve period and even some centuries from the modern period have been dominated by ignorance in this respect. Bacon F. and Harvey W. had an important contribution demonstrating experimentally the circulation of blood. The discovery of the optical microscope and of the main colorants based on aniline by Paul Ehrlich in 1879 have constituted a huge step forward in grounding the knowledge’s regarding the sanguine tissue. He also distinguished for the first time the eosinophils granulocytes, named by him so because of their particular affinity for acid colorants like eosin. For a long time it was considered that eosinophils are precursors of the red cells. The majority of the information regarding these sanguine cells date from the second half of the XXst century. The development of the electronically microscopy regarding radio-marking methods and of the knowledge of molecular biology, have allowed the grounding on new bases of the actual issues in haematology.
