Abstract

During the 50 years of his scientific activity (1887-1938), Gheorghe Marinescu published over 1000 papers in the following fields: normal and pathological neuroanatomy, neurology, neurophysiology, etc. Gheorghe Marinescu is considered the founder of the neurology and neuropathology Romanian school. He was a member of the Romanian Academy since 1906. He was also a member of 7 foreign academies. His all-life passion was the nervous cell, and he published the book “The Nervous Cell” (2 volumes, over 1000 pages) in 1909 in Paris. It was the first book of that kind in the world, and it was not surpassed yet.
