Abstract

Among the first Romanian medical prints, there are papers written by doctors and scholars. Most of these publications have multiple translation and processing forms. The book „Omu de lume”, a well-behavior manual, was written by Vasilie Ghergheli and printed in Vienna in 1819. The importance of the book consists in the paragraphs modified and added by him. Nicolae Iorga enumerated the merits of this book: it is the only paper printed by an inhabitant of Maramures, it is the biggest Latin book by then, it uses an original orthography, and most of all, it contains cultural Romanian desiderata.
