Abstract

Radiology started its development as a science in 23 of January 1896, at Wurzburg, Germany. Due to an indiscretion 18 days earlier, the Viennese newspaper “Die Presse” writes an article about a new kind of rays. This article will be taken over by news-papers from Sibiu (Siebenburgisch-Deutsches Tageblatt) and Brasov (Kronstadter Zeitung). An interest for discovery is shown. Shortly after the numerous articles published about Roentgen’s invention, professor Karl Albrich-junior from Sibiu successfully reproduced the famous experiments. In addition, because the apparatus was very expensive, professor Albrich built himself an exact copy of it, which he used to do radioscopies for the Hospital of Sibiu and the Military Hospital. The repute of this novelty was spread, and a new radiologist appeared in Sibiu and Brasov – Franz Herb was a photographer and had in his possession a Roentgen apparatus. This way, it began the assimilation of new knowledge that came from Germany. This way, more and more interested people appear – the student Arthur Leitinger from Brasov builds his own Roentgen machine, a radiology department conducted by Cornelius Muller is founded at Sighisoara, and the number of scientists keeps rising. There will be a thoroughgoing study, the technology being at its first steps.
