Abstract

Intestinal occlusion is one of the most frequent causes of acute surgical abdomen in newborns. Without treatment, these pathologies may determine death in a short time, so diagnosis and treatment should be started very early. In this paper, we wanted to reveal the particularities of clinical and paraclinical diagnosis and the evolution of newborns with high intestinal obstruction admitted at the Children's Hospital Brasov – surgical ward, over a 10-year period. During 1999- 2009 at the Children’s Hospital Brasov on the surgical ward, there were 192 newborns admitted with digestive malformations, from which 26 presented high intestinal occlusion by duodenal obstacle or proximal jejunum.
