Abstract

Our study has consisted in the evaluation of the prevalence of the Enterococcus strains isolated from different pathological products and its resistance to antibiotics. There were analyzed 288 strains isolated from patients of the County Clinical Emergency Hospital of Brasov during 3 years. Higher isolation frequencies have been obtained in infected wounds, followed by urinary infections, biliar infections, and peritonitis. We have obtained resistant strains to Ampicillin (17.9% in 2003, 36% in 2004, 30.8% in 2005), to Gentamicin (27.4% in 2003, 44% in 2004, 20.5% in 2005) and ciprofloxacin (21.7% in 2003, 20% in 2004, 5.2% in 2005).
