Abstract

The anaesthetics have been reported to reduce sympathetic tone, to reduce cerebral metabolism and electric activity. It is not clear whether EEG changes are related to hypnotics only because opioid boluses in different clinical situations have unclear effects on the bispectral index. We studied 30 ASA 1-2 patients scheduled for orthopaedic surgery randomized into 2 groups: inhalational anaesthesia and Total intravenous Anaesthesia (TIVA). Conclusion: inhalational anaesthesia offers better homodynamic stability than TIVA to algic stimulation.
