Dependența corticotropă la un lot de femei cu hiperandrogenism
Keywords:
congenital adrenal hyperplasia, hyperandrogenic womenAbstract
Congenital adrenal hyperplasia (CAH), even the second cause of hyperandrogenism, is rarely investigated and diagnosed. The goal of the study was to determine the incidence of late-onset CAH in a group of hyperandrogenic women. In a follow-up study, in which we used the ACTH adrenal stimulation test, we emphasized the corticotrope dependence of hyperandrogenism in cases of unknown aetiology or unsatisfactory response to the usual therapy. Results: we found hyperandrogenic manifestations in 21.52% of the overall female patients studied; we tested with the ACTH test in 24.55% of cases, in 14.02% the test being positive. These results point out the proportion of functional adrenal aetiology in hyperandrogenic pathology.Published
