Neutropenii severe postchimioterapie la copiii cu leucemie acută limfoblastică
Abstract
Febrile neutropenia remains a frequent complication in paediatric oncology (an iatrogenic complication of cytotoxic chemotherapy), requiring emergency hospitalization and empirical broad-spectrum antibiotics. This study aims to evaluate the 31 febrile neutropenic episodes that occurred in 20 children with acute lymphoblast leukaemia admitted in II Paediatric Clinic Cluj-Napoca between January 2000 and December 2006. The mean age was 6.2 ± 3.6 years. 12 children (60%) had one episode of febrile neutropenia and 51% of episodes occurred during the first cycle of treatment. We had 14 episodes with high-risk febrile neutropenia and 17 episodes with low-risk febrile neutropenia. All episodes had clinically (14 episodes) and microbiologically (17 episodes) documented infections, with gram-negative organisms predominated. The treatment with granulocyte colony stimulating factors (G-CSF) in 6 high-risk febrile neutropenia episodes reduced the duration of severe neutropenia.Published
