Abstract

Alzheimer’s disease is a neurodegenerative disease known as the most common form of dementia among older people (people over age 65). Clinical signs of Alyheimer’s disease are characterised by progressive cognitive deterioration, together with declining activities of daily living and by neuropsyhiatric symptoms or behavioral changes. The goal of this project was to determine the prevalence of Alzheimer’s disease as a distinct clinical and anatomicopathological entity among other types of dementia, at the patients hospitalized in the neurology and psychiatry sections from Braşov city. From the 313 patients with dementia, hospitalized between 1 january 2004–31 july 2005, 63,26% (198 patients) were found with Alzheimer dementia.
