Scarlet fever is a contagious disease, produced by Streptococcus pyogenes, with respiratory transmission by contaminated air, hands and objects. Susceptibility to the disease is greater in childhood, especially in kinder-garten and in schools. The aim of this study was to emphasize some epidemiological aspects of the cases admitted with scarlet fever in Infectious Diseases Hospital of Brasov in period 2004-2007. The disease was present every year, mainly to children (98,7% cases), more frequently in urban (78% cases) and without significant differences between boys and girls ( 52,59% and 47,41% cases).Published
