Abstract

Obesity and overweight represent one of the greatest “health field” challenge nowadays. In Europe, 27% men and 38% women are obese. And as far as overweight children are concerned their number rises dramatically (over 400.000 per year). According to recent studies, In Romania the rate of obesity is about 25% and 50% are overweight Romanians. We can consider that obesity is a major health issue, according to its high incidence, to the multiple complications that come with it (such as cardiovascular disease, Diabetes, Dislipidemia, Degenerescent Reumatical Disease, Sleep Disorders etc.) and according to treatment difficulties. The piece of work has a target proving how necessary is the efficient treatment of this serious disease of the 21 century, as far as changing life style and efficient drug therapy are concerned. All in all, we highlight how important prophylaxis can be, taking into consideration that more than 40% of obese adults were obese while childhood also. As an “antidote”: more information for people, healthy food and sports.
