Abstract

Lung cancer became after 1980 the most frequent malignant disease in general population, main cause of death both in man and women. It is estimated that approximately 90%, respectively 78% lung cancer deaths in man and women are caused by cigarette smoking. Only 15% of diagnosed cases survive for 5 years and 65% of patients die in less than 1 year from diagnosis. Lung cancer epidemiological evolution is explained by the habit of smoking. In our days, WHO declare that, smoking is the first avoidable cause of morbidity and mortality in the world.
