Abstract

Viral hepatitis C represents an important public health problem because of its persistent morbidity, multiples ways of viral transmission, chronic evolution in majorities of the cases and lack of specific prophylaxis. At present the treatment of viral hepatitis C is represented by combination of two drugs (Pegylated Interferon and Ribavirin). This kind of medication can cause a lot of side effects, clinical and haematological. The aim of our study was to evaluate the frequency of haematological disorders. We found that this kind of disorders were frequently and precocious (anaemia in 80% cases, thrombocytopenia to 40% patients and neutropenia in 80% cases after 3 months of treatment).
