Abstract

Since the original Perthes disease was described and classified, different prognosis factors have been taken into consideration. Besides the Salter-Thompson and Herring classifications, the Catterall classification is the most common and contains "head at risk" signs. The goal is to minimize the management of Perthes disease and preservation of hip deformity. A rational treatment plan is based on early recognition and a clear prognosis. Diagnosis is usually not difficult, but the best way to identify and improve its outcome is still controversial things.
