Abstract

A retrospective study was performed in Braşov Emergency County Hospital, from 1.01.2009 – 30.06.2009, on patients who underwent surgery for abdominal trauma. A total of 72 patients (male 54, female 18), with ages ranging from 1-69 years, were admitted for transportation accidents (30), labor accidents (1), assaults (13), suicide attempts (4), and other circumstances (24). Trauma was blunt in 62 cases versus 10 wounds, isolated in 27 versus 45 cases with associated extra-abdominal lesions. The average hospitalization time was of 12.2 days, with 4 patients not surviving. A series of 4 papers correlates the pathology with: I circumstances and mechanisms, II clinical aspects, III imaging, and IV surgical treatment.
