Abstract

Wound infections still represent one of the major issues of modern medicine due to the high morbidity and even mortality and due to the economic consequences on patients and hospitals involved. The aim of our study is to determine the etiological spectrum and the therapeutic difficulties of wound infections in the patients hospitalized in the Clinical County Emergency Hospital from Braşov during a period of six months (January-June 2010). Our study has included 322 bacterial strains isolated from wound secretions. The etiological spectrum was dominated by S. aureus and E. coli. Other germs etiologically implicated were coagulase-negative staphylococci, Enterococcus sp., Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Klebsiella sp., Enterobacter sp., Proteus sp., Acinetobacter sp. The isolated bacterial strains have presented different levels of resistance to antibiotics.
