Abstract

The beginnings of the nineteenth century found the Romanian Principalities with multiple problems regarding the lack of healthcare organization, shortage of health personnel and auxiliary health personnel, as well as the lack of health education, total ignorance of the elementary rules of hygiene of the population, plague, cholera, variola or malaria being the most dreaded diseases that decimated the population, with poor knowledge of health measures and basic preventive protection methods. Arose as a necessity imposed by the social and military development, appearance, and conduct of the major campaigns of conquest and great conflagrations, on increasingly wider territories, which gradually exceeded the borders of the belligerent states and engaged a large number of people, the Military Medicine has evolved with the general medical and military progress, thus generating the progress of the two arts and sciences, at the same time.
