Abstract

Nosocomial infections have been reported by the mass- media in 55 articles in 3 general information profile newspapers from the central media with nationwide spread and 2 very influential press institutions in Romania during the time period 1 January 2010 – 1 June 2013. The articles were analyzed regarding the narration of hospital-acquired infections, sources quoted by the journalists, the role of the perceived risk of infection by the population, public health measures, resistance to antibiotics, and incidence and mortality of nosocomial infections.
