Abstract

Since 1983, with the discovery of H. pylori, gastrointestinal pathology has evolved through many concepts: epidemiological, clinical, etiologic, and therapeutic, even culminating with the transfer of this pathology from the category of non-communicable diseases into communicable diseases. Aim: This study aims to compare the risk factors involved in the development of H. pylori infection in three groups of people: the first includes healthy patients, uninfected with the bacterium Helicobacter pylori and without any digestive disorder, the second group consists of patients with digestive disorders but not infected with Helicobacter pylori, and the third group consists of patients with digestive diseases in which the bacterium Helicobacter pylori was detected. The determinant and favoring risk factors were: alcohol, coffee, smoking, as well as the provenience (urban, rural) of the respondents.
