Abstract

Most senior people are suffering from a larger number of systemic diseases. Some of these diseases may occur in the oral cavity, they manifest by decompensating in the peripheral blood vessels and in the maxilla bones. The edentulous state can also have a profound impact on overall health. The most common systemic diseases that can make important changes at the oral level are represented by metabolic diseases, cardiac diseases but also endocrine diseases. The treatment plan for senior people should consider their functional and psychological needs in a holistic approach for a better quality of life for each patient.
