Abstract

This is an essay dedicated to the issues linked to the medical elite. The author defines the meaning of elite and describes the medical elite. The focus is put on the aspects that impose the elite: achievements in clinical practice, medical education, or in biomedical research. Of course, the true elite is challenged by the false elite, pushed by charlatanerie. However, true members of the medical elite are able to resist the passing of time.
