Abstract

With a remarkable history, aspirin is already widely used for its anti-inflammatory, antipyretic, and analgesic properties. In the last decades, the benefits of aspirin for the secondary prevention of cardiovascular events were intensively studied and are now well established. However, the benefits of aspirin in primary prevention are less clear. Numerous studies over the last years have suggested that taking aspirin on a regular basis may substantially lower a person’s risk of developing or dying from cancer and seems to be effective against liver fibrosis, particularly in people at risk for chronic liver disease, according to new research.
