Abstract

Glutathione peroxidase is an enzyme that catalyzes the reduction of hydroperoxides, including hydrogen peroxide, and glutathione reduction. Glutathione peroxidase has the function to protect cells from oxidative stress-induced changes. Toxicological studies have demonstrated the production of reactive oxygen species by titanium dioxide nanoparticles. In the present study, it was shown experimentally to change the enzyme glutathione peroxidase in guinea pigs that were implanted with a titanium screw.
