Evaluarea hemocromatozei in β Talasemia majora la copil | [Evaluation of hemochromatosis in children’s β-thalassemia major]

Abstract

In this prospective study, I presented the efficiency/toxicity of iron chelation therapy for 8 children with β thalassemia major, hospitalized in Children Hospital Brasov between March 2011-march 2013. Evaluation of hemochromatosis based on level of serum ferritin (every 3 months), echocardiography (every 6 months), abdominal ultrasound (every 3 months), and complete growth assessment (every 6 months). I evaluated desferrioxamine toxicity by yearly ophthalmology and audiology examination and deferasirox toxicity by biochemistry every month (ALT, AST, and creatinine).
