Abstract

Radiodermatitis is an inflammatory or dystrophic skin process produced by the direct action of ionizing radiation. We report the clinical case of a male patient aged 60 years with a verrucous type of squamous cell carcinoma that appeared on a very old chronic radiodermatitis area. 40 years ago the patient underwent local radiotherapy for a deep mycosis on the left temporal area. At the dermatologic examination, we observed a round-oval, white-pink colored, atrofo-cicatricial scar with telangiectasias on a surface 4 cm in diameter. On the surface of the placard, we observed a painless, with warty surface verrucous tumor with a diameter of 1 cm. The histopathology revealed a squamous cell carcinoma. The presented case confirms the presence of a squamous cell carcinoma that appeared on chronic radiodermatitis after a long period of latency.
