Abstract

The aim of this retrospective study was to analyze the spectrum of infections and the antibiotic resistance of Acinetobacter strains isolated from the patients hospitalized in the Intensive Care Unit. These germs were involved more frequently in low respiratory infections (63.77%), visceral abscesses (17.36%), and wound infections (9,43%). High levels of resistance have been detected in most antibiotics tested with the difusimetric method, sensitivity being higher at tobramycin (69.77%) and minocycline (68.11%). The high share of carbapenem-resistant strains (meropenem – 95.34%, imipenem – 94.86%) is a worrying phenomenon. The results reveal the need of monitoring the multi-resistant strains from ICUs and their resistance phenotypes.
