Abstract

The presence of vestibular syndrome in patients with concomitant cervical spine disorders is a clinically common occurrence in medical practice. The problem of differential diagnosis with cervical pathology is an obvious necessity, especially as the real vestibular diseases of the inner ear, can activate the reflex unilateral “compensatory” contraction of the cervical muscles. However, there is also a form of balance disorder described as "cervical vertigo", which is own of the serious musculoligamental disorders of the cervical spine. This one, (its name frequently provokes confusion about the inner ear's affections) is not associated with the objective sign of spontaneous nystagmus.
