Pityriasis rosea is a common self-limiting, acute, benign dermatosis that affects especially teenagers and young adults. The etiological agent involved in the pathogenesis of pityriasis rosea is HHV-7. Except for the typical form of pityriasis rosea, there are also atypical forms that should be differentiated from other cutaneous diseases. Pityriasis rosea is a slightly irritable dermatosis that usually does not need any treatment. Topical corticoid therapy is useful in itching and irritated forms.Published
