Abstract

Degenerative disc disease is certainly one of the best-known clinical entities, but it retains many unknowns. It is not known what initiates the degenerative process, it appears that a combination of intrinsic factors, extrinsic and genetic etiopatogenic share roles. [1] In an era when health management tends to become an important component of education to any doctor, the healthcare cost problem becomes a harsh reality, especially in a very expensive specialty like Neurosurgery. In addition to huge costs for neurosurgical intervention, the healing of a disc hernia operated means a period of incapacity for work between 3 and 6 months, sometimes a year or more [2]. Some patients may prevent the disease or worsening of symptoms if they are careful and responsible and keep their weight under control, whether physical activity prevents very intense, if I stop smoking and if you avoid aggravating factors.
