Abstract

Epilepsy is currently regarded as a brain dysfunction involving a non-systematic and paroxysmal depolarization of the neurons, followed by propagation of the said neuronal discharges in the adjacent nervous tissue. The article briefly describes the modality of performing the mapping in comitial lesions. The charting represents the spatial distribution, but it does not deal with the appearance of waves and their variations depending on time, it only expresses their variations depending on space, of the component frequencies or of some EP waves at a given moment on the scalp. The drawing of the maps represents the only way to transform three-dimensional information into a perceptible form. The researches in the field show that from the two modalities of mathematical analysis, which are FFT and Burch, the second modality, which is Burch, is much more precise in results.
