Abstract

Acute pancreatitis represents the anatomo-clinical expression of the acute syndrome of pancreatic and peri-pancreatic auto digestion. The study was performed on 1024 patients. We retrospectively reviewed the charts of 630 patients and prospectively studied 394 cases. The annual average of patients was 12.23% from them suffered severe acute pancreatitis and 77% suffered mild acute pancreatitis. The maximum incidence was for the ages between 30 - 50 years, predominant on the masculine sex (69%). Aetiology: ethanolic at 59% of patients, biliary at 17% of patients, dyslipidemia at 5% of patients, post surgery at 4% of patients and without a definite etiology.
