Abstract

The aim of our study has consisted in the evaluation of the prevalence and sensitivity to antibiotics of the ESBL strains from different Enterobacteriaceae genre. The study group has included 630 bacterial strains producing ESBL, isolated from the samples of the patients hospitalized in the Clinical County Emergency Hospital of Braşov, between 2008 and 2009. The detection of multiresistent Enterobacteriaceae strains producing ESBL was based on the synergy test, done with Oxoid biodiscs (ceftazidime - 30 μg and amoxicillin - clavulanic acid - 30 μg), confirmed with the VITEK 2 COMPACT automatized system. The testing of sensitivity to antibiotics of the Enterobacteriaceae strains producing ESBL was done by the difusimetric Kirby-Bauer method and VITEK 2 COMPACT system. The highest percentage of the ESBL strains was registered in Escherichia coli (46.2%), followed by Klebsiella sp. (23.2%) and Enterobacter sp. (20.3%). With lower frequencies have been isolated ESBL strains of Proteus, Serratia, Citrobacter, Morganella. In vitro, the sensitivity to carbapenems was high, while for aminoglicosides and fluorochinolones there were obtained higher levels of resistence.
