Abstract

The present paper focuses on the second wave of the resurrection of the Romanian prose in the 1960s, a movement that proved to be a natural follow-up of the partial liberalization that occurred at the beginning of this decade, mainly due to deliberate political relaxation. In order to give an accurate overview of this period, emphasis will be put on the political and cultural background of the time, including references to the political regime, the literary press, and criticism, the censorship, the openness towards Western cultures, as well as to the directions existing in the prose fiction of the time and the literary productions proper.
