Abstract

The paper presents the principle and the opportunities offered by a modified L-joint test for a complex in-field evaluation of wood behaviour in outdoors above ground exposure, corresponding to the biological hazard class 3. The main types of biotic and non-biotic degradation phenomena, occurring on unmodified or treated wood, after a period of 27 months of exposure, are described and illustrated.
