Modeling the Specific Resistance of Wood to Cutting

Abstract

The specific resistance has an important influence on the wood cutting process. The Romanian technical literature presents a series of empirical methods that can be used to determine this resistance. Nevertheless, these methods cannot be used directly in computer programs. In order to use the values of the specific cutting resistance in a computer program, the information gathered from the technical literature must be modeled first. This paper presents a method for modeling the cutting resistance of wood.
