Abstract

This paper refers to the determination of the influence of the type of polyvinyl acetate (PVAc) polymer, the concentration of aqueous solutions, and of the duration of the immersion on the amount of solution absorbed by the solid beech wood (Fagus sylvatica). Three types of polymers out of which were prepared solutions of 5-20% concentration were employed. The research aimed at determining the effect of wood pores blocking with simple or crosslinking polymers, on a surface layer, on the quality, dimensional stability and consumption of coating materials of beech wood.
