Abstract

Bibliotherapy represents a systematic intervention regarding the use of carefully selected reading materials in order to help clients of all ages to cope with personal problems. The scientific literature shows that this kind of intervention can be helpful in educational and clinical contexts. The focus of this study is to analyze the main articles that critically evaluate the relevant literature on bibliotherapy in a clinical context. There were analyzed 18 systematic reviews and meta-analyses that aim to emphasize the role of bibliotherapy in a clinical context, published in the English language between 2000 and September 2017. The results of this review highlight the role that bibliotherapy has in the treatment of some mental disorders.
