Evaluating Romania’s Transition towards a Knowledge-Based Economy

Abstract

The paper focuses on presenting the state of affaires regarding the accomplishments of Romania on its way towards the knowledge-based economy. The EU main objective is to become the most competitive knowledge-based economy in the world until 2010. Only by corroborating the efforts of all member states, will this goal be achieved; Romania is still at the early stages the analysis based on World Bank Group instrument is a proof. The present situation regarding two important pillars of the knowledge-based economy is also analyzed for Romania.
