Abstract

The purpose of the current paper is to present an overview of key policy measures undertaken by the Romanian authorities in order to first, prevent the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic, and second, to counteract the adjacent economic slowdown registered so far in 2020. A qualitative analysis was carried out using publicly available data from the National Institute of Statistics. The main findings suggest that the policy measures managed to stabilize unemployment in the short run but also significantly affect the manufacturing and services sectors of the Romanian economy.
