Abstract

The paper presents the way in which well-known cultural codes in world’s literature are recycled in post-war novels The Nonexistent Knight by Italo Calvino and Lord of the Flies by William Golding. Previous cultural codes acquire new significance which makes them attractive to the postmodern sensibility.
