Abstract

The paper is intended to be an account of the social purpose of translation in terms of its relationship with the issue of ethics, which is a professional concern as much as the deontology of translation is. The translator’s responsibility and reliability are also dealt with, relying on observations that reveal a considerable amount of non-professional translators within Romanian communities.
