Abstract

This paper discusses the struggle that appears within the self of the artist who discovers himself in a society that imposes limits and strict rules on the artistic environment. The individual finds himself at the border of existence as he does not know which path to follow and he is often unable to make a clear decision. Aldous Huxley’s The Monicle and A.E. Baconsky’s The Stonecutter’s Run will be the stories in which the analysis of this inner struggle unfolds underlining the points in which the two artists meet and those in which their life approaches diverge.
