Abstract

This paper is meant to outline the modalities in which the US President exercises his powers and prerogatives as the head of state, leader of the executive branch of the federal government; chief diplomat, commander-in-chief of the armed forces, and the highest political official in United States and how through a system of separation of powers and the system of "checks and balances," presidency has the authority to act on its own, some authority to regulate Congress, and how it is regulated by the legislative branch.
