Abstract

This research aims to identify the linguistic manner in which criminality is rendered for the Romanian newspaper reader. For this purpose, a comprehensive analysis system called ‘linguistic criticism’ will include various morphologic-syntactic, pragmatic, but mostly semantic and sociolinguistic concepts which will attempt to decipher a pattern of talking about criminality. The comparative method is possibly a suitable choice since simultaneous representation is mostly profitable for a balanced attitude to interpreting both the agent and the object, be they the victim and the aggressors or the offenders and the policemen.
