Abstract

The present paper aims to investigate certain relationships between the visual aspects of poetry, namely, visual perception, both as incorporated in the poem and belonging to the poem’s reception, writing, as a vehicle for the poem, and as an expressive means in itself. Several aspects of visual poetry, such as ekphrasis, ideogram, calligram, and concrete poetry are briefly examined, along with some aspects of the visual written syncretism in 20th-century poetry.
